Commonwealth Governance Republic versus Democracy
One would think in seeing the periodic failures of governments and nations supporting them that it would be a simple task to identify the errors and omissions leading to their failures. It isn’t, and opinions are legion. Rome was a pushy military-based republic and it failed; the USA is a pushy military-based republic like it, on the verge of failing. Support of ignorance, inequalities, injustices and overspending to support the wishes of the minority who want military force to support their avaricious exploits are significant factors, as well as the support of an expensive corporate health system which fails far too many of its citizens. Its recent steps to enact a long needed universal health care was predictably met by disapproval (most nations hate the idea initially, but would never consider giving the service up once enacted.)
Another part of the problem is that republics are inherently elitist and most are not equality based, and tend not to heed democratic principles at least to the degree needed to satisfy the majority. To defend their position some amongst them create terms and half truths for comparable failures of democracy. Democracy, while both fragile and robust, can always be repaired if the people see the failings of leaders or policies and fix or remove the source of the problem before would-be dictators make such a decision without majority consent. No other governing systems have an adequate mechanism for repair short of their economic failure or overthrow. The elements who exercise control within choose not to see what they are doing is detrimental to the public good. The mechanism for public consent is what makes the difference between a dictatorial system or an autocratic republican or socialistic fascism, and democracy. Fascism denies the choices and equality of voting and Americans have seen numerous instances and ways of votes being denied. Members of a democracy must choose to be selfless, prudent, tolerant, wise and generous, or their choices can harm minorities or turn the democracy into a mob, or a cash cow for those who manage or provide services to it. Those human attributes are not broadly encouraged in republics when their leaders choose what they want to see and deny what they do not, or control or ignore dissent and/or stifle the means by which it can be heard widely. Constitutions must be approved by the citizens they affect, not be something cloistered away out of reach that an elite chose to implement. Successful nations encourage education, creativity, healthy living, business and farming and the success of all members within it. When discriminatory practices benefitting an elite become apparent the governance is already in serious trouble. The American system of governance has been undermined by several enemies of peace, each associated with religion. Religion is a system of politics and governance usually based on a spiritual belief. Its leaders justify their existence by using opinions and arguments, not the first hand use of the Creator's Living Word, dreams and visions. The Commonwealth will seek diplomatic and trade relationships with other nations acknowledging its future existence, provisional government and ability to conduct increasing levels of trade in the years to come. The population of the Commonwealth may reach 100 million within 20 years of its emergence, and after its first settlements in 2015 of 144,000 best suited to pioneer it. In the short term the Commonwealth's provisional government offers 20 year bonds at 7%/PA to interested investors, a far safer investment than many others in this period of economic strife, and upheaval.
